Beautiful blossoming tree in Residence 2 backgarden today. My Google-Foo makes me think it is a Jacaranda, anyone know if that’s right?
Taken in Residence 2 in Royal William Yard, Plymouth.
To find is the thing.

SoundCloud of The Electric Bends, if like me you were left wanting more…

The Electric Bends is a band formed by members of Q-Games in Kyoto, Japan. They jam on their lunchbreak and after hours. Really enjoyed this album, which was released on 21st May 2013.
Excellent music for programming to - small wonder as it the band was formed by the crew who made games like PixelJunk: Eden and PixelJunk: 4am.

We must let the consciousness of doing right, of living up to our ideals, be our reward and stimulus, or life will become to us but a series of failures, sorrows and disappointments…

The Batten Farm
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere (close to Tavistock) there lies a dairy farm owned and run by the Batten family, like it has been for around 500 years. We were shown round by John and Amanda, our good friends from swing dancing.
We all had a grand ol’ day out, playing with the cows (pictured), watching some sheep porn (pictured) and eating a lamb named Lilly (not pictured due to digestion). John taught us loads about how their farm works and I definitely left a more informed man than when I arrived.
Thanks guys!

Get Yer T-Shirts!
We’ve been toying with the idea of putting up a Mutant Labs shop selling t-shirts and nick-nacks for a while. So, one free-range Friday, Alex and Ben set themselves the challenge of turning this dream into reality. Through a cheeky bit of web development and some saucy web design we’ve now put our first shop live with the original ‘Hometown Tee’ and the newly appointed ‘Hometown Crew’ for sale (both illustrated by our resident illustrator Chris Mayoh).
Stay tuned for product updates. Sign up here to receive them via email (as well as other cool Mutant Labs news).
Sonic Boom Six @ White Rabbit, Plymouth
15/11/12 @ 8pm
Sonic Boom Six are a five piece from Manchester, bringing a fresh and unique vibe to one of Plymouth’s top venues, White Rabbit. They’ll be thrusting their blend of rap, metal and dubstep straight into the brain of the not-so-innocent onlookers this Thursday. I’ll be there, knee deep in the hyper-energetic atmosphere that these guys are promising.

…can I have a little look in the back-end for you?

ChoppyChopster’s Curly Mopster
The latest illustration from Amy Stock. Amy is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Plymouth. This drawing comes from practising different ways of drawing curly hair in her cartoon style. She also regularly draws pictures of Fatso her cat.

Hold onto your butts, Just Misbehavin’ are playing some swingin’ jazz on Saturday night in Exeter. A whole bunch from Mad About Swing are heading up country (all that way) to throw-down in the hip city of Exeter.
There’ll be swing music, dancing and probably a cheeky smile of booze and laughter. If you’re heading that way, gimme a shout or better yet come grab me for a dance!

Devils Point (via Devon Explorer)
The Royal William Yard works its magic as a real gem in Plymouth for great food and beautiful scenery. And yet, just round the corner at Devil’s Point you can find more stunning views on the South-West coastal path.
Urban Splash have devoted themselves to polishing up Royal William Yard to become an exciting and vibrant ‘cool’ hub of the city, and it’s really working. New commercial residents are springing up regularly, and they all have one thing in common; they don’t do conventional. Whether it’s Le Vignoble the classy and modern wine bar, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s rustic yet delicious River Cottage or Mutant Labs and their team of digital explorers (me one of them), they challenge the norm and dare to be different, all contributing to ‘The Yard’ sticking out like an awesome thumb in Plymouth.
And now, Plymouth City Council, Urban Splash, Friends of Devil’s Point Park and The South West Coast Path Association are combining forces to join Royal William Yard to the beautifully scenic Devil’s Point by a stairway that will be cut through the yard’s defensive wall. Sure, we won’t be able to repel the invading Spaniards as well as we might, but it will make for a great walk!
